Confessions of a modern Irish bachelor

No, not me.  This guy.

Hat tip to SDaedalus.

This was a tough, but funny article to read.  I could relate, up until the geigh part.  Young guys, don't wind up like this.  Take care of business now, even if it involves painful growth and risk.  I don't know why I added "even if."  It definitely WILL involve painful growth and risk.  But the payoff is huge.  That payoff is life.

  1. I wouldn't worry too much about the guy in the article, Augustine, I'm sure he'll find someone. Irish male journalists have a tendency to play the poor bachelor card to win female readers.

Imo the difficulty is not that he won't find someone, but that he may be too set in his ways by the time he does to make the necessary adjustments that everyone needs to do for a relationship to work. Women his age have exactly the same problem, people get set in their ways and won't change.

The malleability of younger people, on the other hand, is one of the many reasons they become more attractive to ageing singles. The younger person is more likely to change to fit their mould.

  2. Here's another cri de coeur from an Irish male bachelor (and modelizer). I'd put this into the 'written to keep the Mammy from nagging me to settle down' category.
